Tradies in Mona Vale
Mona Vale grew up around the junction of Pittwater Road and Mona Vale Road and served as the administrative centre of the former Pittwater Council. The village has supermarkets, a library and the RSL, Mona Vale Hospital sits to the west, and the golf course runs beside the main beach, with the rock pool, the Basin and Bongin Bongin Bay to the north. Housing is more mixed than anywhere else on the upper peninsula. Roughly half the dwellings are detached houses, many of them 1950s and 1960s brick or fibro on streets like Darley Street; a sixth are semis and townhouses, largely complexes from the 1970s onward; and close to a third are apartments, concentrated around the village and along Pittwater Road.
Being a few hundred metres from the surf, Mona Vale homes take salt haze on glass, paint and metal, though with less force than the headland suburbs. Brick houses from the post-war decades show mortar erosion and efflorescence on the weather side, painted render on 1970s complexes chalks and grows mould on the southern face, and tiled roofs carry lichen under the many large gums. Leaf and pollen drop is heavy enough that gutters, skylights and south-facing paving need routine attention. Some low-lying streets drain slowly, so driveways stay damp and algae persists. Townhouse driveways and apartment facades age uniformly, which is why those jobs tend to arrive as strata decisions rather than individual ones.
Strata is the main rule to know. In a townhouse complex or apartment block, external walls, roofs, windows from outside, balcony balustrades and shared driveways are normally common property, and the owners corporation has to approve cleaning or sealing them, usually via the strata manager, even if one owner is paying. Northern Beaches Council requires a permit to remove most trees or prune beyond its exempt limit. Run-off from exterior work has to be kept out of the stormwater lines, which run to the beach and Pittwater; it goes to lawn, garden or sewer. Pre-1990 fibro houses may be clad in asbestos cement, and pressure washing it is out of the question. Some low-lying lots appear on council flood mapping, which affects drainage work.
Tell us the job in the quote form, say whether the property is a house, townhouse or apartment, and attach photos. It goes to vetted, independent tradies who are already working in Mona Vale, Warriewood and Newport, all of whom have been through our checks: identity tied to an active ABN, licence confirmed on the NSW register wherever the job needs it, public liability insurance still current, a track record in these suburbs and agreement to our conduct rules. The tradie contacts you and quotes directly, and you choose. For strata properties, tell us whether you have, or are seeking, the owners corporation's approval, and mention visitor parking limits in the complex. Homeowners pay nothing, and nobody is obliged to hire.

Frequently asked questions
Usually yes, if the walls, roof or driveway are common property under your plan. Check the by-laws and ask your strata manager; many committees approve a quote quickly when the scope is clear.
Some low-lying parts of the suburb appear on Northern Beaches Council flood mapping. A planning certificate for your lot will show it, and it matters for drainage, landscaping and some building work.
Light pruning inside council's exempt limit, done to the Australian Standard, may not need one. Larger pruning or removal usually does. Check with Northern Beaches Council before any tradie starts.
Only by soft washing, never pressure, and only if the sheeting is sound. Treat it as asbestos cement unless tested otherwise. If the sheeting looks damaged, the tradie should stop and tell you.
Visitor spaces are often limited and time-restricted. Tell us what is available, and whether the building needs notice to the strata manager or a lift booking.
Yes. Tradies in the network quote for strata work when the owners corporation or its manager is the client. Say so in the form and we match tradies who do strata exteriors.
